烏克蘭裔母親伊莉娜的兒子聲稱被三個羅姆人襲擊受傷，捷克警方經初步調查拘捕鄰居少年。事件發酵成為各方宣傳契機，引來媒體訪問及反暴力團體集會聲援，市長及地產商亦忙不迭送上支票及住宅以博取公眾好感。此時伊莉娜始發現另有內情，為免居留權申請再度被拒，她決定維護兒子的謊言，卻不禁受內疚煎熬。挾羅馬尼亞新浪潮的寫實風格，斯洛伐克導演巴斯高以手持攝影機捕捉深植於歐洲移民社會的排外心理及種族主義，矛盾分裂猶如地雷，無人倖免。
Shot in sombre Romanian New Wave-style realism, Slovak director Blaško creates a taut moral thriller about repressed xenophobia and racism rooted in modern Europe. An attack on Ukrainian immigrant Irina’s son triggers a tremor through a divided society, where the media, anti-violence organisations, the Mayor, and even a property developer stand up to condemn their Roma neighbours, who are accused of the crime, while leveraging it for their own interest. When Irina discovers the truth, she compromises her conscience to protect her son, and her hope of securing Czech citizenship.
