This fascinating portrait of an artist as a young woman charts the thirteenyear (and counting) relationship between Danish documentarian Lea Glob and aspiring French painter Apolonia Sokol. Born to bohemian parents living in a Parisian underground theatre, Apolonia’s future as an artist was seemingly written in the stars, but as Glob’s film so beautifully and at times painfully chronicles, the path to success and acceptance in this most cutthroat and competitive of industries is far from assured, much like the filmmaker’s own.
