發光石頭 Diamond Hill
鑽石山一定有鑽石？小兄妹在當年尚未清拆的大磡村木屋區，遙望鑽石山豪宅。哥哥承諾會給妹妹找到鑽石，深信發光的石頭定會出現。然而父母早逝，他們成了孤兒，妹妹被中產夫婦收養，兄妹從此被迫分離。養母有日發現床下有異，潛入屋中的小偷更揭穿了床裏隱藏的秘密。故事糅合黑色荒誕與驚慄元素，骨子裏是異色且深情的兄妹關係。鄭保瑞以這部菲林首作，進一步奠定其日後創作風格與路向。可惜出品及沖印公司均已業，只得質素欠佳的版本存世。
‘Diamonds should be beneath Diamond Hill,’ muses young May before she’s adopted by a middle-class couple and separated from her older brother Heung-hoi. But Heung-hoi re-emerges years later when a broken bed, a stolen police revolver, and an eccentric burglar spur an improbable convergence at May’s foster home. Cheang’s recurring obsessions with unconventional families and inconvenient pregnancies are on full display in Diamond Hill, a little-seen gem that defies easy genre classification, yet is arguably Cheang’s most surprising and unusually engaging work.
